In January 2019 I presented the following paper at a continuing legal education seminar entitled “Oil & Gas Disputes” sponsored by the State Bar of Texas. This paper covers a so-called “accommodation doctrine” dispute between an operator and surface owners in a case I tried for the operator in Frio County, Texas.

Unclaimed Mineral Proceeds Commission

In 2014 I served by appointment of Texas Governor Rick Perry as the Presiding Officer of the Unclaimed Mineral Proceeds Commission created by HB 724, 83rd Texas Legislature, Regular Session, 2013. The following is the Commission’s Report.

Texas Wrecker Service, et al. v D. R. Resendez and R. Schalman d/b/a Apollo Towing/Easy Rider Wrecker Service

2017 Tex. App. LEXIS 1571 (Tex. App. Corpus Christi – 2017, no pet.). This was a dispute between two towing companies. I represented the Texas Wrecker.

2010 Tex. App. LEXIS 3951 (Tex.App.—Corpus Christi 2010, pet. denied) (dispute concerning political party activities). I represented Mike Bertuzzi and other local Republican Party activists on a pro bono basis.

2009 Tex. App. LEXIS 188 (Tex. App.—San Antonio 2009) (dispute concerning minerals located in Brooks County, Texas). I represented the Lasater Family.

2008 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 51519 (W.D. Tex. 2008) (workers’ compensation case relating to the death of an employee and the remand of the case from federal to state court). I represent Unique Staff Leasing.

227 S.W.3d 51 (Tex., No. 05-0870, June 8, 2007.) (Value of a royalty interest in minerals can not be considered in determining compensation for geologic services with no written agreement). I represented Mike Quigley.

206 S.W.3d 175 (Tex. Civ. App—Corpus Christi 2006, pet. denied) (suit involving whether a person adopted as an adult is a descendant under a will). I represented Sarita Armstrong Hixon and her siblings.
